Giving by Bequest
Making a bequest through your will is one of the easiest ways to remember loved ones and the organizations you care about most. You may choose from several options to make a bequest to Guideposts.

  • We have partnered with FreeWill and using their online tool, you can write a legal will for free in 20 minutes or less. Go to www.freewill.com/guideposts to get started.
  • If you prefer to do it on your own, the simplest way to make a gift is to add the following language to your will, naming Guideposts as beneficiary: “I give, devise and bequeath ________ (a certain sum, a percentage of the estate, or the remainder of the estate) to Guideposts.”

Charitable Trusts
When you make a provision for Guideposts in your trust, you can simply leave a legacy. Gifts through a trust can be made in a fixed amount, as a percentage of your estate, or as a residue after gifts to loved ones.

Guideposts will serve as a trustee of a trust with a minimum principal amount of $100,000 for charitable remainder trusts or $250,000 for charitable lead trusts.

Charitable Gift Annuities
A Guideposts Charitable Gift Annuity allows you to make a gift now, gain tax benefits, and receive payments for life. This well-established and IRS-approved form of giving helps you boost your retirement income while supporting Guideposts. Annuity rates are fixed for your lifetime. Guideposts pays a competitive rate. Upon the death of the named annuitant(s), the remainder is distributed to the ministry programs of Guideposts. The minimum Charitable Gift Annuity amount is $20,000.

Life Insurance
Gifting a life insurance policy is an ideal way to make a gift that will be larger than what you paid for it. You would need to make Guideposts the owner and beneficiary of the policy and pay any remaining premiums. Your charitable deduction depends on the status of the policy, whether it is paid in full, or if premiums are still due.
