The Gift of Forgiveness
Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.—Colossians 3:13 (NIV)
The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.—PSALM 119:130 NIV
“I thought I saw the light at the end of the tunnel,” a caregiver said with a sigh. “What I didn’t realize was that it was another freight train heading right toward me.”
Caregivers are often marathon runners with an invisible and ever-moving finish line. We yearn to know with certainty that our efforts are right and worthwhile. We think, If only I knew how long this would last, I could make it.
When everything is dark and uncertain, there is Someone we can rely on—the Lord Jesus Christ. Reading His Word and resting in His presence bring comfort, strength, and wisdom. Letting a particular verse unfold within our minds and hearts gives us light to see and courage to take those next caregiving steps.
Trusting in God mends our frayed emotions and sustains us in our caregiver’s journey. His multidimensional wisdom is far greater than our simple view of our circumstances.
God’s words will always light our way through the dark tunnels of life.
Lord of all light, You are my comfort and strength when I can’t see what is coming next. I know that my future is in Your hands and You are with me, illuminating my steps. I thank You for always being with me.

For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.—Psalm 91:11 (NIV)

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.—Romans 5:8 (NIV)
