AAA: Angel Auto Assistance

A broken down driver gets a little heavenly help.

Transcript

– Hi. I’m Colleen Hughes, editor in chief of Angels On Earth, with a true story of an everyday angel from Larry D. Flora of Pittsburgh, California. Angels come to us every day as a neighbor, an unexpected rescuer, a kind stranger, or a loyal pet. Listen now to a story of just such an everyday angel.

One night Larry pulled over to help a woman whose car had broken down. She was on her way to visit her mother after being out of touch for years. And only had just enough money for tolls and gas. Larry’s mechanic, Cuneo, was nearby. Larry and the woman managed to push her car to his shop. But it was closed.

Larry left a note in his mailbox with the woman’s card keys. “Take my car,” Larry insisted. “Just leave it here when you pick up yours.” Larry didn’t know how she would pay for her repairs though. Next week, his car was waiting at Cuneo’s. “Did she pay?” Larry asked. Feeling guilty for having dropped this job in his lap. “$25,” he hedged. But the repairs had to have cost a lot more Larry protested Larry, Cuneo said, cutting him off. “She needed help. I helped her.” Sometimes it’s as simple as that.
