Home is where the heart is—but searching for the right place to call your own can be hard! It’s often a trying process, full of twists, turns, and lots of prayer. Of course, that only makes “home sweet home” that much sweeter when you do find it. Here are three stories of people who got some divine assistance during their house hunts.

An Answered Prayer for the Perfect Home

Linda Loegel’s rental double-wide mobile home suited her perfectly. It ha no stairs. There was room for an office. It had two porches—front and back, a shower stall instead of a slippery bathtub, and best of all, a view of trees and her beautiful bird feeders from the kitchen window. But now it had a toxic mold issue, and she had to move. How would she find such another place that was such a perfect fit for her?

A Foster Mom Finds Her Dream Home

Barbara McCourtney was 54 years old, recently divorced, raising two teenage foster daughters on a fixed income. She and her daughters lived in a cramped rental apartment. And yet she dreamed of a house she could paint and decorate just the way she liked, a place she could really call her own. One day, while doing the dishes in her tiny kitchen, an urge to pray came over her: “Lord, I want a house of my own. A nice house, big enough for me and my daughters, with three bedrooms and two bathrooms and a large kitchen so we can fix meals together.”

Heavenly Touches Make This House a Home

It was was the plainest house Kathie Kania had ever seen. But it was the only rental in the area. Kathie had always lived in comfortable, quaint homes. She grew up in an 1850s farmhouse with a wood-burning stove. It was quirky—the wavy wood floors, glass bubbles in the windowpanes, the slanting windows in the attic. Even the closets were unique. One had a big, fat doorknob made of brass. Nothing like this new house Kathie and her husband had just moved into. As she drifted from room to room, Kathie grew more and more dejected. Until her eyes fell on one of the closet doors. What was it about this door? Something was familiar…
