The night before Wayne and I were due to fly across the country, we went out to dinner with friends. However, when the bill arrived, my husband couldn’t find his wallet. Thinking it must have fallen out of his pocket while he was in the car, I took care of the bill. However, his billfold wasn’t in the car. Nor had the valet found it. Convinced he must have left it at home, we looked there with no luck. His wallet had gone missing, along with his identification, his credit cards, and cash. 

After a thorough search, Wayne decided the only thing he could do was contact the credit card companies and cancel all our credit cards. He had his passport, so we could at least get on the plane. 

The following morning, as we readied for the trip to the airport, a sheepish Wayne came to me and announced he found his wallet in his pants pocket. He’d placed it on the opposite side of where he normally kept it. 

I shook my head and said, “This goes on your permanent record.” The family picked up on the saying, so any time one of us does something that makes our eyes roll, we say, “It’s on your permanent record.” 

Thankfully, God doesn’t keep track of our sins as humans do. When we invite Christ into our lives, He takes away our sins and washes us clean. There’s no permanent record with the Lord.
