My social media post was short: “First day. New job. A warm welcome. #thankful #newbeginnings.” I added pictures of me smiling ear to ear, my new name plate, and the flowers I had received from my new colleagues. 

It had been a long haul to that first day. I had endured several disappointments before I landed my new job. A parade of initial interviews by phone for various positions, followed by in-person meetings, long waits for decisions, and then the calls and emails to inform me that someone else had been chosen. 

Shortly after I posted on social media, I got a direct message from a woman I had worked with years ago. “You give me hope,” she wrote. “I’ve been out of work for a year and keep getting passed over. I was so depressed yesterday until I saw your post. I will continue to pray. Congratulations!” 

I quickly responded to my former colleague, telling her I knew how she felt because I’d been there. God had provided what He had in mind for me at the right time, and it was good. “Keep hope alive,” I wrote back. “The job will come. I’m a witness.” 

I remembered the friends who shared with me their testimonies of Jesus’s faithfulness: a desired job, an amazing opportunity, or a breakthrough in a relationship. I was always encouraged by their victories after their struggles. 

Now I am grateful to have a chance to share my testimony. It’s what I’m supposed to do. I never know who I might be able to bless.
