Make the Most of Your Gift

Guideposts blogger Pablo Diaz urges us to make the most of God’s most important gift of all, life. How do you plan to honor your gift each and every day?

Make the most of the gift of life, urges Guideposts blogger Pablo Diaz.

During this season, we rush from store to store or pull all nighters making gifts for others. But as the stress increases and Christmas Day nears, we tend to forget the most important gift of all…life.

Just the other night, I was washing the dishes and right in front of me was a plaque with the quote “Every Day is a Gift from God” on it. This made me think, yes it’s exciting to open Christmas gifts and give them as well. But the gifts that come in wrapping paper wouldn’t matter without the first gift He gave us when he made us.

When we were given life, we were also given the gift of love, the ability to express ourselves and to live up to our potential. When we stress over the small things, we forget to live life to the fullest. Every day is an opportunity to share our talents and love with the world.

As Proverbs 16:9 reads “The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.” So we must plan our life goals and follow in the path He has laid out for us, this is our responsibility each and every day.

Yes, some have many years left and others not, but no day should be wasted. When we are young, we don’t worry about running out of time, but when we age we realize that our days are limited. So remember, the holidays will come to an end, but the true message of Christmas is the gift of eternal life, and it is the greatest gift we can receive.

How do you make the most of your “everyday gift”? What is the best gift you can give to others? Please share.

Lord, please help us to see every day as a gift from you and to make it count this season and all seasons to come.
