Comfort for Your Soul
Being a parent or caregiver to a child with special needs or illness is challenging and exhausting. Caregiving is physically and emotionally taxing because we give from our physical resources, as well our hearts. Tending to the needs of precious children also drains our mental capacities and our spirits. As a result, caretakers can experience guilt, anger, isolation, and other negative emotions. Parents, guardians, family members, and others who step in to care for sick or special needs children additionally serve as counselors and medical advisors, which drains us of energy, strength, and sometimes hope.
