When Sarah chaperones Audrey and Amy’s class trip to an Amish community, she stays with a local family and asks her hostess, Annie Fisher, about the beautiful quilt on her bed. Annie shares that she and her daughter, Katie, made the quilt together. But Annie breaks down and tells her that Katie has been shunned and forced to leave the community nearly a year ago; Annie hasn’t heard from her since then. Because of their church’s rules, Annie is not allowed to reach out to her daughter, but she’s desperate to find out if Kate is okay. With Sarah’s own daughter, Jenna, just days away from her due date, Sarah understands Annie’s desperate concern for her absent child, and she offers to find Katie. But no one in the community will risk the bishop’s displeasure by speaking to Sarah, and she doesn’t even know where to start. Will she be able to track down the missing girl? Does Katie want to be found? Using clues in Katie’s quilting, Sarah searches for answers, spurred on by a mother’s love.

From her first introduction to beginner readers with Dick and Jane, award-winning author Kelly Ann Riley has wanted to be a writer. She started penning stories at an early age and received special recognition for her short stories. Later, she became a reporter and the editor for her high school newspaper.
