About the Author
Norman Vincent Peale and his wife Ruth Strafford co-founded Guideposts in 1945 to provide an organization that would help people from all walks of life achieve their maximum personal and spiritual potential.
Known as one of the most skilled Christian communicators of the twentieth century, Dr. Peale authored the best-selling book, The Power of Positive Thinking, which sold over 20 million copies. A pastor of Marble Collegiate Church in New York City for more than five decades, Dr. Peale gained fame for his sermons on a positive approach to modern living. His weekly radio program, “The Art of Living,” was broadcast on NBC for 54 years. He often spoke to over an average of 100 groups a year and was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Ronald Reagan.
Dr. Peale passed on December 24, 1993, but his philosophy of telling true-to-life stories as a personal communicating is still at the heart of the Guideposts experience today.
