Right Your Wrongs

The appetite of the lazy craves, and gets nothing, while the appetite of the diligent is richly supplied.”—Proverbs 13:4 (NRSV)

God’s Word has a way of honing in to your weaknesses and helping you strengthen your resolve. He knows that change can be uncomfortable, and it takes bravery and strength to overcome cravings and do the right thing.

Heavenly Father, thank You for loving me right now as I am and guiding me to make good and important changes in my life.

Be an Encourager

“Has the Lord spoken only through Moses?” they asked. “Hasn’t he also spoken through us?” And the Lord heard this.—Numbers 12:2 (NIV)

In the above verse, when Miriam and Aaron witnessed God using Moses, they were jealous. Praising others and being truly happy for another’s spiritual or natural gifts can be difficult. But when you recognize that your work and your relationship with God is equally important, you can truly appreciate the blessings of others and be positive about their achievements.

Dear Lord, when I feel envious of another, please guide my focus back to You and the work that You have given me to do.

Rest Your Weary Soul

Upon this I awaked, and beheld; and my sleep was sweet unto me.—Jeremiah 31:26 (KJV)

God invites you to come to Him and He will restore and replenish your energy. He will refocus your mind and heart. He will satiate your weary soul and you will awake feeling comforted and loved.

Dear God, help me to release my burdens and worries to You. Fill my weary soul with your perfect peace.

You Are Capable of Change

Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed.—1 Corinthians 15:51 (KJV)

Pastor A. W. Tozer wrote, “Human nature is not fixed, and for this we should thank God day and night! We are still capable of change. We can become something other than what we are.” Because of God, we can change our thinking, change our actions and change our lives.

Dear Lord, thank You for the circumstances that have led me to become a better person, to grow my love for others and my love for You.

Grow in Christ

But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.—2 Peter 3:18 (NIV)

Spiritual growth is a lifelong process. There is no end to your development. The closer you grow to God, the more you realize how much more there truly is! God’s bounteous gifts are infinite.

My Loving God, every day is an opportunity to nurture my relationship with You.

The Grace of Gratitude

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith— and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.—Ephesians 2:8 (NIV)

Do you have the mistake of thinking that if everything isn’t going your way you can’t possibly feel gratitude for the things that are? Gratitude is in and of itself a form of peace. When you recognize simple blessings, you open your heart to feel God’s presence.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the many blessings—from sunrise to sunset—that grace my life!

God Is Your Refuge

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.—Psalm 46:1 KJV

When you feel overwhelmed and burdened by your responsibilities take this verse to heart. Don’t try to handle everything by yourself. God is your protection, your solace, your comfort, and your refuge. Let Him flow in. Loosen your grip on the idea that you have to control everything and put the future into the hands of God.

Heavenly Father, I know that You are my refuge, my strength and my very present help. I open my heart and invite You in.

The Perfect Start

In their hearts humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps.—Proverbs 16: 9 NIV

Set aside time each morning for prayer. Share your plans for the day. If something is on your mind, be still and ask for His direction. Surrender any pressing expectations of the outcome and be open to His plan and His will. Listen for His answer.

Lord, I am so thankful You’re with me throughout the day. Let me see every morning as a fresh start.

The Gift of Freedom

I have chosen the way of faithfulness; I have set my heart on your laws. I hold fast to your statutes, Lord; do not let me be put to shame. I run in the path of your commands, for you have broadened my understanding.—Psalm 119:30-32 (NIV)

Today as we celebrate Independence Day, reflect on the blessings God has showered on our nation. Give thanks for the many people who have sacrificed in the past and those who are currently serving to protect freedom. Pray for peace among nations and all people.

Lord, make us worthy of the gift of freedom.

Into the Fire

This third I will put into the fire; I will refine them like silver and test them like gold. They will call on my name and I will answer them; I will say, “They are my people, and they will say, The Lord is our God.”—Zechariah 13:9 (NIV)

The above verse shows that God brings His own people into the fire to refine them. He compares you to a precious metal, showing how the “fire of life,” the hot water, the challenges and difficult situations are for refinement. He is teaching and guiding you to think and live by His ways.

Lord, when I’m in the fire, I will lean on you to get through, as I trust that this difficult time will pass.

Take Control of Your Faith

Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.—Colossians 4:2 (NIV)

Devote a specific time every day to connect with God. It is best to begin your morning with prayer and align yourself with God’s will. Pray that your day serves Him by showering those around you with love, understanding and kindness. Ask Him to fill your spirit with His immense love.

Lord, the Bible promises that when I seek You with all my heart, I will find You!

Upgrade Your Expectations

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”—2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV)

Do you ever feel too small to matter to God? If you feel God has forgotten you, turn to Scripture and tell Him that you are ready to serve Him. Pour out your worries. God wants you to know that you can do wonderful, great things for His glory. He has instilled a specific and genuine purpose in you to thrive and contribute to His kingdom.

Dear Lord, I know that I have Your power behind me and I am ready to do great things for the good of others.
