Activate God’s Blessings

Praise the Lord. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.—Psalm 106:1 (NIV)

Dr. Norman Vincent Peale said that when we give thanks, we not only recognize past blessings—we activate blessings to come. Reflect on the simple, beautiful things that Almighty God has given you. Open your eyes and see that God does wonderful things every day! Praise Him for the good in your life.

Dear Lord, thank You for the abundance of blessings you have given me.

Surrender to ‘God’s Will’ Power

For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness.—2 Peter 1:5-6 NIV

The holidays can test your self-control, whether it’s indulging in a rich dessert or overspending on an extravagant gift. When you feel tempted, rely on “God’s will” power. Focus on the person God wants you to be and ask for His help. You can overcome any temptation.

Lord, renew the gift of self-control within me. Help me to be the person You want me to be.

Happy Thanksgiving

Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”—John 6:35 (NIV)

You Complete Me

May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.—Ephesians 3:19 (NLT)

Whenever you feel like you are running on empty, turn to this verse and let it enter your mind. Focus on growing in the “fullness of life and the power that comes from God.” Open your heart and experience the love of Christ.

Start with Praise

“I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.”—Jeremiah 31:3 (NIV)

Try this powerful prayer technique: Begin your prayer time with praise. Praise God for His glory and mercy and His ability to redeem every situation and convert challenges into positive growth. Then confess your wrongdoings and bring your requests to Him.

Merciful God, thank You for giving me so many reasons to praise You.

When You Feel Stuck

Jesus replied, “No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.”—Luke 9:62 (NIV)

Dr. Norman Vincent Peale said, “Change your thoughts and you change your world.” But what if your world changes and you’re stuck on the way that things where? Shift your focus and ask God to help you stay calm and gracefully accept the new situation.

Father God, it’s hard to let go of what was—but I will— because I trust Your plan and Your timing.

Live with Hope in Your Heart

For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is no hope at all. For who hopes for what he sees?—Romans 8:24 (ESV)

No matter what problems you face, it’s important to keep hope alive in your life. Hope is a great renewing force. Whenever difficulties and trouble come upon you, ask God to reassure you that things will get better.

Father, You are my refuge and strength, brighten my dark thoughts and fill me with hope.

When Holidays Are Difficult

Never again will they hunger; never again will they thirst. The sun will not beat down on them, nor any scorching heat. For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; he will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.—Revelation 7:16-17 (NIV)

As we enter into the holidays, recognize that this time of year can be difficult for some people, especially if they have experienced a loss. If you or someone you love is going through a hard time, know that God knows the depth of your grief. He will comfort your heart.

Dear Lord, remind me to be gentle to myself during this difficult time. Lift me up when I am weak and help me find moments of peace.

God’s Perfect Love

Jesus replied: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.”—Matthew 22:37 (NIV)

Loving God is a process that begins by consistently spending time with Him. As you grow your relationship with Him, you become open to His ways and your priorities fall into place. Most importantly, you show your love for Him by sharing His love with others.

Dear Lord, I long to love You with every fiber of my being.

Mind Set on God

I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.—Psalm 16:8 (NIV)

Our minds frame our perspective and shape every experience. When you keep the Lord in your mind, you are anchored to the truth and power of His Word. You avoid thinking negatively and worrying about what-if scenarios. Instead, you can rest soundly knowing He is beside you, helping you along the way.

Heavenly Father, keep my heart open and my mind centered on You, every moment of every day.

Prayer for Strength

Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.”—Mark 10:27 (NIV)

Sometimes obstacles seem so large that you might feel defeated, but God promises that because of Him, you have the power of His strength. With Him by your side, you can triumph over even the toughest problems.

Almighty God, I know that alone I am weak, but with You I have the strength to face even the largest mountains.
