Do Beautiful Things

She did what she could. She poured perfume on my body beforehand to prepare for my burial.—Mark 14:8 (NIV)
Jesus described the woman who anointed Him with expensive perfume as “doing what she could.” Throughout God’s Word, we see beautiful examples of people making the best of their resources to honor Him. If you want to help a person or a cause, but feel that you can’t because you lack the money or direction, remember that when it comes to glorifying Him, your best is always enough.
Lord, show me what I can do for You right now, today!

The Farewell Prayer

When Jesus had spoken these words, he lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, “Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son that the Son may glorify you.”—John 17:1 (ESV)
Often called the “High Priestly Prayer,” the words in John 17:1–26 capture Jesus’ prayer before His betrayal and arrest. As Jesus faced His last days on earth, He prayed for those who would be left behind. When Jesus said, “None has been lost,” He meant all of us.
Dear Jesus, help me live my life to glorify You and all You have done.

Prayer for Palm Sunday

The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted, “Hosanna to the Son of David!”—Matthew 21:9 (NIV)
When Jesus rode into Jerusalem, the crowd shouted “Hosanna!” and declared Him king. Yet Jesus knew His preaching and beliefs would not lead Him to ascend a throne but to be rejected and crucified. Because of Christ’s supreme sacrifice, we are set free from death.
King Jesus, thank You for Your sacrifice and the victory it brings to my life.

Your Path of Purpose

The Lord has made everything for its purpose.—Proverbs 16:4 (ESV)
At one time or another, you might wonder, Why did God create me? Perhaps you can’t fully answer the question, but it is comforting to know that He created you for a purpose. Each day, as you walk on His path, you come closer and closer to discovering exactly what that purpose is.
All-knowing God, give me the wisdom and strength to overcome any obstacles on the next steps in my journey.

In God’s Arms

This is what the Lord says to me: “I will remain quiet and will look on from my dwelling place, like shimmering heat in the sunshine, like a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest.”—Isaiah 18:4 (NIV)
When you surrender your will to God, peace enters your spirit and flows like a river through your life. His guidance will dispel your fears and impart strength into all of your actions. Let go of all that is troubling your heart and go to Him. Rest freely with childlike repose in the arms of God.
Dear Lord, I know You are faithful and constant. Help me trust in You. Hold me tight.

Radiate the Beauty

For behold, the winter is past; the rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth, the time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land.—Song of Solomon 2:11–12 (ESV)
Celebrate today, the first day of spring! Winter has ended, and as the first blooms open, feel your spirit unfold to the joy ahead. Saint Francis de Sales (1567–1622) is recorded as saying, “Truly charity has no limit; for the love of God has been poured into our hearts by His Spirit dwelling in each one of us, calling us to a life of devotion and inviting us to bloom in the garden where He has planted and directing us to radiate the beauty and spread the fragrance of His Providence.”
Heavenly Father, nurture my spirit and help me bloom where You have planted me.

Believe in Yourself

Overhearing what they said, Jesus told him, “Don’t be afraid; just believe.”—Mark 5:36 (NIV)
Norman Vincent Peale said, “Whenever a negative thought concerning your personal powers comes to mind, deliberately voice a positive thought to cancel it out.” Don’t give up if you are worried that you cannot accomplish a goal. Conquer your doubt with faith.
I believe in myself, Almighty God, because Your peace and power are within me.

Saint Patrick’s Prayer of Protection

The Lord will fulfill His purpose for me; your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands.—Psalm 138:8 (ESV)
Today, as we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, rejoice that God is an essential part of your life! Pray a portion of this beautiful prayer known as the Lorica of Saint Patrick:
Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me,
Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ on my right, Christ on my left,
Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down,
Christ in the heart of everyone who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me,
Christ in the eye that sees me,
Christ in the ear that hears me.
I arise today
Through the mighty strength
Of the Lord of creation.

God Is With You

When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.—Psalm 56:3 (NIV)
Do you spend time overthinking the future—trying to take control and imagine every possible outcome? When you do this, it is easy to forget that God is in control. In the above verse, David trusted God. Turn to God and pray. Put your trust in Him and praise Him for His promises.
Dear Lord, I put all my faith and trust in You alone.

Bridge to a Better Life

David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.”—1 Samuel 17:45 (NIV)
When you feel out of options, draw wisdom and strength from God. Ask Him to help you find a way to break through whatever is blocking you. Appreciate that sometimes a setback is a bridge leading you to a better life.
Everlasting Father, when I feel trapped and out of options, stop me from limiting myself. Remind me that there is no obstacle too big for You to overcome.
