A Healthy Spiritual Diet

Let my meditation be pleasing to Him; as for me, I shall be glad in the Lord.—PSALM 104:34 NASB

Quiet time. What is that? Haven’t we all wondered at times?

We caregivers have many needs to fulfill—our own as well as those of our loved ones. Constant demands and interruptions take their toll on our well-being. But when we make time to spend time with the Lord, we’ll find His strength flowing through us—and we’ll be better able to cope and manage our days.

Special measures may be required to nourish our spiritual health. Maybe some soft worship music can create a peaceful atmosphere at home, welcoming the Lord’s presence. If we keep our Bibles and devotional books next to our favorite chairs, we might be able to squeeze in five minutes of “spiritual vitamins.” As we meditate on God’s goodness, we bring much-needed vitality to our frazzled beings.

Best of all, as we pray, we connect with our heavenly Father, our ultimate Caregiver. He loves us, understands our challenges, and gives us the strength to carry on. 

Precious Lord, please draw my thoughts back to You throughout my day. Please cause Your spiritual nourishment to comfort and strengthen my tired heart. Help me to relax without feeling guilty.
