A Lesson in Abundance
All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.—Luke 21:4 (NIV)
He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end.—ECCLESIASTES 3:11 NIV
When we’re in the midst of a struggle, it’s difficult to picture how things could possibly end well. Maybe you’re going through a situation where a happy ending looks impossible. But in spite of how things appear, God promises to make all things beautiful in His time.
That means there’s a day coming when all of this hardship— the work, the hours spent caring for one in need, the pain—will be a priceless treasure to you. The memories will be precious.
It’s good to remember that the Lord views everything in light of eternity. He isn’t limited by time. So when He sees your life, He views it as a “forever” story. He knows this season you’re walking through—and it is a season—won’t last forever. He also knows that one day you will look back on this time of life and view it as a gift.
Ask for God’s perspective on this season, and thank Him for making it beautiful…in His time.
Dear Lord, please give me Your perspective. Help me to see that my situation—tough as it is—will one day be a thing of great beauty to me.

All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.—Luke 21:4 (NIV)

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.—James 1:17 (NIV)

For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.—Hebrews 4:12 (NIV)
