Guard Your Heart
Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.—Proverb s 4:23 (ESV)
At daybreak Jesus went out to a solitary place.—LUKE 4:42 NIV
Don’t you find it interesting that Jesus, the Savior of the world, took time to slip away to a quiet place? He knew that this quiet, intimate time with His Father was absolutely essential.
With all the hustle and bustle of caring for someone in need, it’s tough to sneak away for quiet time. But it’s worth it! In those peaceful moments, we gain the strength we need for the tasks ahead. There, in the arms of our loving Savior, we find comfort, peace, and rest. We garner the courage and the tenacity to keep on keeping on, even when things are tough.
So when can you manage a few minutes of respite from the world? And where will it be? In the quiet of the morning in your bedroom? Soaking in a warm bubble bath? On a leisurely walk through a nearby park? In the car as you scurry from one place to another? Whenever and wherever, be sure to get away as often as you can. God will meet you in that place.
Dear Lord, remind me that when I draw near to You, You draw near to me. Woo me daily into that quiet, solitary place—away from the chaos and confusion. Let me rest my head on Your shoulder and feel Your strong arms around me.
Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.—Proverb s 4:23 (ESV)
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.—1 Corinthians 10:31 (NIV)
And the Lord answered me: “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it.”—Habakkuk 2:2 (ESV)
