Write the Vision
And the Lord answered me: “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it.”—Habakkuk 2:2 (ESV)
For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.—PSALM 84:11 KJV
Our God is so much more than we can imagine. To help us understand Him, He gives us simple word pictures of Himself.
In this passage, God is a sun. Like the sun, He makes things grow, so we are sustained. But also like the sun, His rays can burn, purging our lives of evil.
God is also a shield. Although His glance could turn us to ash, He is able to protect us from Himself, as well as from other things that could harm us.
As part of His protection, He gives us grace. He gives us favor and kindness. We are precious to Him; so precious that He makes us partakers of His glory (2 Corinthians 3:18).
This is our God! And He is good.
His goodness leads Him to give good things to His children. As we walk in obedience, we can trust that the difficulties of our lives are good, because they come from the hand of a good God who sustains and protects us.
If a situation in your life doesn’t seem good, don’t doubt. That crisis or trial really is good, because God promises to cause all things to work together for good.
Because God is in control, it’s all good.
Father, sometimes the trials of my life don’t look very good to me. But I must trust You, because You are good. Thank You for always working for my good.
And the Lord answered me: “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it.”—Habakkuk 2:2 (ESV)
Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead.—Philippians 3:13 (NIV)
So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living thing with which the water teems and that moves about in it, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.—Genesis 1:21 (NIV)
