The Courage to Move Forward
The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them.—PSALM 34:7 (NIV)
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.—PHILIPPIANS 4:6–7 NIV
Within the first hours of the day, many of us can find opportunities to worry. As we learn to take every situation
to God, He exchanges our worries for His peace.
We come before God and bring Him our needs, knowing He is the only One who can grant our request. We are to do this with thanksgiving. When we remember all God has done for us and provided for us, the worries that cause us to focus on what we don’t have slip away in the presence of our mighty God.
God has compassion on us and knows we have many things to worry about. He tells us many times to come to Him. In 1 Peter 5:7 He tells us to give Him our cares. In Matthew 6:25 He tells us He will provide for us and meet our needs.
God promises that peace will permeate both our hearts, where our feelings can churn painfully, and our minds, where we can turn situations over endlessly. Along with giving us His peace, God takes our minds into protective custody, cutting off worries before they can enter.
Lord Jesus, thank You for giving us Your supernatural peace. Remind us to bring all of our cares to You and to thank You for everything You’ve done for us. Amen.

“Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them.”—Mark 11:23 (NIV)

“Speak, Lord, your servant is listening.”—1 Samuel 3:9 (NLT)
