Divine Light in the Shadows
Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.—Psalm 119:105 (NIV)
God, who has called you into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful.—1 CORINTHIANS 1:9 NIV
At the beginning of our caregiving experience, we’re often supported by people who want to help. They do nice things for us as well as the person we care for. Over time, though, this once-faithful support group tends to dwindle.
When that happens, we can find ourselves feeling resentment. We begin to think that we’re all alone, that no one cares what we’re going through. In reality, those faithful friends probably care a great deal—but their lives march on, too. New issues, both good and bad, arise and need to be tended to. When we expect others to be totally faithful to us, we’re setting ourselves up to be disappointed.
In such times, it helps to know that God is always there for us. He’s as faithful at the end of the caregiving season as He was at the beginning.
We’re thankful for the faithfulness that people often show. But we’re truly blessed by the faithfulness that God is.
Dear God, thank You for being so faithful. Relationships shift around me, but I know that my relationship with You will never let me down.

Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.—Psalm 119:105 (NIV)

And a highway will be there; it will be called the Way of Holiness; it will be for those who walk on that Way. The unclean will not journey on it; wicked fools will not go about on it.—Isaiah 35:8 (NIV)

The integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity.—Proverbs 11:3 (NIV)
