Divine Light in the Shadows
Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.—Psalm 119:105 (NIV)
Lord, you have assigned me my portion and my cup; you have made my lot secure.—PSALM 16:5 NIV
When we’re asked to be caregivers, we know we’re going to face a variety of challenges. Some we feel equipped to handle. Others send us running for help.
Our feelings of competence will grow if we remember that it is God who has called us to give care. It isn’t by chance that we’re in this position; it’s by God’s plan.
When Noah built the ark, he had the help of his family. But more than that, he had God’s blueprints for how to build it. When God asks us to care for someone, He also gives us a plan to do it. We may not have all the details, but we can see enough of His blueprint to know that God is going to meet our needs, send the necessary encouragement, and grow us through this time.
Knowing that the Lord has a plan helps us to feel secure when our own plans fall apart. However long this season of caregiving may last, we can know that God will see us through it—step-by-step, day-by-day.
Gracious God, I don’t always understand Your plan—but I trust in You.

Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.—Psalm 119:105 (NIV)

And a highway will be there; it will be called the Way of Holiness; it will be for those who walk on that Way. The unclean will not journey on it; wicked fools will not go about on it.—Isaiah 35:8 (NIV)

The integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity.—Proverbs 11:3 (NIV)
