Through God’s Eyes
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.—1 Peter 2:9 (NIV)
“‘For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.’ ”—JEREMIAH 29:11 NASB
As caregivers, do we know who we are in God?
He has selected us personally to care for another person. Oh sure, we might think it’s because no one else would or could, but the reality is that God selected us as caregivers before the beginning of time. He knew our special gifts and strengths as well as our faults and failings. We are exactly who He chose each of us to be—a special help for that needy person.
We are God’s messengers, ones who show His love, grace, mercy, and care. We have become His hands and feet—even His heart. What a privilege!
Our problems and insecurities aren’t the issue. God already knows them and He knows that, because of them, we’ll need to lean more heavily on Him—on His love and grace. Standing by our Father’s side, we can love others with their insecurities, faults, and failings.
How amazing it is to be used by God, to be an important gift in someone else’s life. How awe-inspiring to know that every moment of every day God is ministering to that person through our physical presence, our talents, and our love—but in His strength and grace. What an honor!
Lord, we praise You for Your constant faithfulness as we seek to reflect You in all we say and do.
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.—1 Peter 2:9 (NIV)
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.—Psalm 46:1 (NIV)
I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.—John 10:10 (NIV)
