Saved by Grace
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.—Ephesians 2:8 (NIV)
The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him…—NAHUM 1:7 NIV
Sandy dug through the pile of insurance benefit statements, searching for clues as to what had gone wrong in paying Mom’s hospital bills.
“Mom doesn’t need a daughter! She needs a lawyer…and an accountant…and a nurse…and a cook…and a maid….” Sandy sighed and tried to decide when she would make the phone calls necessary to solve the mystery. Her lunch hour was almost over. Her boss had demanded overtime last week and asked her to stay late again today.
As more and more of her “free” time was spent taking care of her mother, Sandy’s husband, Ron, was being very supportive. But he was a lousy cook, and he hated microwave meals. When Ron lived on bowls of cereal for days, his temper wore thin. Sandy dreaded telling him that she would come home late tonight, too.
Even worse, Sandy’s teens had invited the church youth group over for this Saturday night. Somehow, sometime, someone would have to clean the bathrooms.
“Lord, I cannot handle everything for everybody. Please help me!”
No angel arrived with a calculator—or a toilet brush. But a good friend sent her an e-card that made her laugh. And when Sandy asked for Friday afternoon off in lieu of overtime pay, her boss agreed—and thanked her for her hard work.
The Lord is good—and He knows those who trust Him.
Lord, how glad I am there is nothing—absolutely nothing!—I can’t share with You. I love You.

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.—Ephesians 2:8 (NIV)

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.—Psalm 147:3 (NIV)

In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.—Psalm 4:8 (NIV)
