Walk with Integrity
The integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity.—Proverbs 11:3 (NIV)
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.—MATTHEW 11:28 (NIV)
I escaped to my front porch rocker for some time alone and to reflect on the day’s activities. Today my mother had a cancer treatment at one hospital, while my husband had to see a specialist in a different building. I had struggled with the logistics of being at both places at the correct time. Tonight I was weary of the constant maneuvering required to meet their needs.
God this isn’t working so well. I’m losing me.
I continued to rock, and after several minutes, I realized that my muscles had relaxed and my stress seemed to slip away.
In those quiet moments, God taught me that communion with Him would carry me. He knew when stress robbed my sleep, when frustrations filled me, and when my spirit was weak. I realized that it was important to schedule some time for myself. I opened my planner, searched for an open day and wrote my name. An appointment to have coffee with a friend, a pedicure, or just taking a long walk would refresh me even as I continued to care for my loved ones.
Dear God, remind me that I am important to You, and help me carve out moments when I can be strengthened.

And he opened his mouth and taught them.—Matthew 5:2 (ESV)
