The Light of Compassion
Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.—Matthew 5:17 (NIV)
“What do you mean, ‘If I can’?” Jesus asked. “Anything is possible if a person believes.” The father instantly cried out, “I do believe, but help me overcome my unbelief!”—Mark 9:23–24 (NLT)
The man in the above verse trusted Jesus enough to admit that he wrestled with doubts, even though he believed in Jesus’ healing power. He asked Jesus to strengthen his faith. Like this man, your faith will not always be perfect. Jesus understands your weaknesses. He invites you to share your doubts and ask for help to overcome them.
Heavenly Father, when I have trouble believing Your promises, help me overcome my unbelief.
Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.—Matthew 5:17 (NIV)
The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.—1 Timothy 1:14 (NIV)
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.—James 1:17 (NIV)
