Divine Light in the Shadows
Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.—Psalm 119:105 (NIV)
As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.—PROVERBS 27:17 NIV
God never designed us to travel this journey of life alone. We need community. The book of Hebrews says we need to spur each other on to good works. We also need each other for accountability.
God uses other people to grow our character. Other people stretch us and challenge us. They point out our blind spots. They may make us uncomfortable at times.
Sometimes our churches are too big for us to develop true community, which is best done in smaller groups. Serving at church through various ministries or getting involved in a small group or Sunday school class is a good way to find community. Not every group will be a good fit, but don’t give up. Pray and ask God to show you where you belong.
In a community group you can deepen your knowledge of worship and the Bible. You can reach out to your broader
community and serve as a group. You can support each other with prayer and share each other’s burdens. God will use these people to bring you closer to Him.
Dear Jesus, You prayed that we would be one as You and the Father are one. Help us to find the community You want us to be united with. Open our hearts to let others in, and make us willing to grow and let others speak into our lives. Show us how we can impact Your kingdom when we work with others. Amen.

Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.—Psalm 119:105 (NIV)

And a highway will be there; it will be called the Way of Holiness; it will be for those who walk on that Way. The unclean will not journey on it; wicked fools will not go about on it.—Isaiah 35:8 (NIV)

The integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity.—Proverbs 11:3 (NIV)
