Steadfast in Faith
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.—Romans 15:13 (NIV)
“Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you!”—ISAIAH 49:15 NIV
Everyone has a mother. She might not have raised you or even been a good mother, but everyone was given birth to by a mother. Mother’s Day is a day when we acknowledge and appreciate how hardworking and sacrificial moms are. But sometimes it can be a painful reminder of the deficiencies of our parents. Or of ourselves as parents. Or of the loss of a parent. Maybe your mom left your family when you were young, or was so consumed by her own pain that she didn’t know how to be a good parent to you. Maybe you’re a mother with a child who has made painful and disappointing choices and you blame yourself, at least in part. What is supposed to be a day of celebration comes mixed with pain.
When we turn our lives over to Jesus, we get adopted into a new family with a perfect Father. No matter what our childhood years were like, God loves us better than any earthly parent can. He will never leave us. He walks beside us through every situation. Let Him heal your hurts.
Heavenly Father, we thank You for welcoming us into Your family and for being the perfect Father to us. Help us remember to thank You and to come to You with all of our needs. Amen.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.—Romans 15:13 (NIV)

But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, so that it will not be obvious to others that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.—Matthew 6:17–18 (NIV)

The Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.—Romans 8:26 (NIV)
