We truly have just 18 summers before our children leave home—and each season is precious beyond words.

The hardest part was not knowing what it was. I had yearly checkups with my ophthalmologist and clung to my faith that one day healing—or at least an explanation—would come.

Maybe this house wasn’t as grand as our old one. But, then again, maybe home wasn’t where we lived. It was where we shared the sweet moments, the small miracles of every day.

On this national day of prayer, we have the privilege and responsibility to come together in prayer. Together, we have the ability to amplify that heart’s cry asking God to keep those men and women in our military safe.

God can use all of us to help those in need, regardless of our weaknesses and limitations. And prayer is the first step. The necessary spark that can make things happen.

Soon this raking is a pleasure. Praise flows in a steady stream. There’s so much to thank the Lord for. I’m happy, overjoyed to be here–in this normally full-of-life place on a day when it’s quiet enough to think about the blessings the Lord brings.
