Fear

How the Guideposts editor-in-chief uses encouragement and the experiences of others to overcome fear.

What are you afraid of? We’ve all had times when fear blocked us from doing something we wanted, needed, had to do. Fear is the absence of trust—those two feelings cannot coexist. One blots out the other. I’ve used my capacity for reason to find trust; I’ve leaned on the encouragement and experiences of others. And there are times when only a higher power can provide the assurance I need to face my greatest fears.

My puppy Millie had one debilitating fear when she arrived in New York City a little less than a year ago. I tried everything I could to help her but to no avail. She was stuck in that fear state until she found trust in a friend, whom you are about to meet in the following video reenactment. That’s right. Dogs reenacting. You’ll love it!

Edward Grinnan is Editor-in-Chief and Vice President of GUIDEPOSTS Publications.
