Are You Ready?

You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected.—Luke 12:40 NLT
Consider how different your day would be if you lived anticipating Christ’s return? Would you greet Him with joy? Would you be proud of the way you’re living and how you’re spending your time? Are you devoting your energy to the right things?
Heavenly Father, help me grow in spirit and understanding so that I am ready for You.

Jesus’ Voice

My sheep recognize my voice. I know them, and they follow me.—John 10:27 MSG
Do you hear Jesus speaking to you? His voice is clear and concise for He is Lord of peace and order (1 Corinthians 14:33). His voice encourages you to grow and become stronger and greater. He is perfect love who drives out fear (1 John 4:18). His messages soothe and comfort. He leads and forgives. Focus on these attributes and delve into His Word to hear Him accurately.
Heavenly Father, help me discern Your voice from my mind’s chatter.

Don’t Be Distracted

But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign LORD my refuge; I will tell of all your deeds.—Psalm 73:28 NIV
Do you spend quiet time with God every day? Schedule time when distractions aren’t likely to happen—either early in the morning, or at a time when you’re able to turn off your phone, close the door, and be near Jesus. You’ll be amazed at the difference this time makes in your life, from hearing His whispers to being filled with His peace and comfort—before long, you’ll find it’s a favorite part of your day.
Thank You, Lord, for showing me the beauty of Your love in the moments we share.

Be Bold in Service

Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.—Galatians 6:2 NKJV

Do you feel overwhelmed by what is going on today— the problems that so many face either in your own family, your neighborhood, or the world? Ask God to show you where you are needed most. Make a list of places where you can volunteer and pray for guidance on where to help.

Heavenly Father, make me bold in service for You.

Love with All You’ve Got

Jesus replied: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”—Matthew 22:37–39 NIV
Jesus asks us to LOVE with our whole being, our whole heart, and all our soul and mind. When we love as Jesus models—we can heal the deepest hurts, overcome the toughest challenges and accomplish the greatest things. Pray this verse when you need more love in your life.
Dear God, please let my life be filled with love.

The Power of the Shortest Verse

Jesus wept.—John 11:35 NIV
John 11:35 is the shortest verse in the Bible, but its depth of meaning is vast. In times of sorrow, find comfort in this verse and knowing that Jesus is with You. He is filled with compassion and understanding of what you are going through. When you weep, He weeps with you. You are not alone.
Father, no tear escapes Your notice. When sorrows come, comfort me with Your love.

Fall’s Simple Pleasures

There is nothing better for a person than that he should eat and drink and find enjoyment in his toil. This also, I saw, is from the hand of God.—Ecclesiastes 2:24 ESV

What’s your favorite thing about autumn? Is it the beautiful bursts of color of the fall leaves, the taste of spiced cider or settling in with a good book by the comfort of a fire? Whatever your pleasure, treat yourself and relish in the beauty of life.

Dear Lord, I praise You for simple pleasures. A sunrise. A walk through the woods. Remind me to take the time to notice the aspects of Your handiwork that thrill my soul.

An Amazing Work in Progress

Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.—Philippians 3:12 NIV
Life is a series of goals to reach and lessons to learn. Sometimes our trials may seem unclear—the lessons unresolved. In times of uncertainty, press forward and trust that your life is a beautiful, amazing work in progress.
Heavenly Father, help me learn to love the uncertainties and trials—the works in progress—that You are completing in my life.

Do You Shine?

The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light. For those who lived in a land of deep shadows— light! Sunbursts of light!—Isaiah 9:2 MSG
As the nights grow longer and the time between first light and sunset lessens, ask yourself: Do I shine? Does my faith and ability to trust Jesus draw others toward Him? Is my positive attitude a beacon of His light? If you answered no, think of this verse, take a moment and breathe deeply as you imagine God’s light flowing through you.
Lord Jesus, show me where I can shine more brightly for You today.

The Power of Relinquishment

Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.—Ephesians 3:20 NLT
A secret to success is relinquishment. When you surrender yourself and your dreams to Jesus and ask Him to work through you, anything is possible.
Heavenly Father, I’m tired of trying to do this alone. I grant You access to my life and dreams. Work within me for Your glory.

No Place for Lukewarm Faith

I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.—Revelation 3:15–16 NIV
God doesn’t want your spirit to be lukewarm. He wants you to live a full life with a full heart. He wants you to be enthusiastic about your prayer life and excited for the opportunity to delve deeper into His Word.
Lord Jesus, I come to you with an open heart. Let me live passionately for You.

Seeds of Faith

He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.—John 15:2 NIV
As vegetables and fruits ripen and are picked, God wants to use you in His harvest field. Spread seeds of faith by living your life in a way that brings glory to God.
Dear Lord, You have put miraculous work into each one of us. Help me live my life so that it meets Your plans.
