Pray Like Jabez

Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request.—1 Chronicles 4:10 NIV
God has a future filled with blessings planned for you. Seek His gifts not for your personal fulfillment but for His glory. When you rely on His multitude of gifts, you open a channel for His divine work to flow in and through your life.
Dear God, Thank You for blessing my life, for comforting my heart with Your love and for strengthening my faith with Your Word. Thank you for everything.

A Gentle Answer

A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.—Proverbs 15:1 NIV
Next time you are tempted to speak harshly against another who has hurt you, stop for a moment. Is the problem as serious as you’re making it? Will your words improve the situation, lead to a solution, or only show your anger? Whatever you say, be compassionate and caring. Set your mind on mending the relationship.

Keep me, God, from stirring up anger. Help me use words that comfort and heal.

God’s Word Heals

Every word of God is flawless…—Proverbs 30:5 NIV
Sometimes a small careless word can cut deep into your spirit and cause lasting pain. Are you still holding on to the pain from a comment said in anger or spite? God’s love and power, His Word can heal your wounds.
Heavenly Father, replace my pain with Your love. Give me patience and understanding to bear disagreements and generosity to share my blessings. Guide me to be careful and kind with my words.

A Good Night Every Night

In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, LORD, make me dwell in safety.—Psalm 4:8 NIV

Getting more sleep ranks in the top ten of New Year’s resolutions. Here’s a simple tip to help you have a restful night. Before you go to sleep, commit your soul to God’s care. Pray the Lord’s Prayer, followed by intercessions for others and lastly, any petitions for yourself.

Heavenly Father, fortify me each night with Your peace. Watch over me, bless my house and my loved ones. Help me rest in Your promise.
