Enjoy the Journey

My feet have closely followed his steps; I have kept to his way without turning aside.—Job 23:11 (NIV)

No matter what challenge lies ahead, know that God goes before you, leading the way. With His help you can overcome any obstacle. The key to peaceful progress is to approach each problem moment by moment. Avoid getting too far ahead of yourself. Focus on the now and know that Your omnipotent, ever-present Helper is guiding the way.

Keep Secrets

But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.—Matthew 6:6 (NIV)

Your prayer time with God is private and sacred; whatever you tell Him remains a secret you share. Often in the beginning God’s work within you is hidden, but eventually your spiritual growth will blossom and bear fruit for the world to see.

Dear Lord, I cherish our relationship and trust You wholeheartedly to grace me with Your gifts.

No Reason to Fear

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.—Isaiah 41:10 (NIV)

It’s easy to feel the stress of life’s challenges weighing down on you—bad news, financial difficulties, a health issue, even something trivial like a callous comment can throw you off balance. But God deeply cares about everything in your life. Ask Him to reassure you that He is always with you and He will lead you through big and small problems, each and every day.

Lord, when I need a boost of faith, remind me to turn to the Bible; it is full of promises that comfort my heart and keep fear at bay.

Faith in God’s Timing

I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope.—PSALM 130:5 (NIV)

God’s timing is sometimes different from your own, and waiting on Him and remaining hopeful might seem impossible. If you become weary, turn to the Bible. Remind yourself who God is and why you should continue to hope in Him. Trust as David, the great king of Israel, did in the above verse, and know that God will guide your steps.

Heavenly Father, I know you are faithful to me, and I will be faithful to You, trusting that You hear and always answer my prayers.

A Blessed Future

Be careful what you think, because your thoughts run your life.—Proverbs 4:23 (NCV)

If not, make a commitment to change your thinking. Fill your mind with good, uplifting thoughts and you’ll be amazed at the blessings that follow.

Dear Lord, I pray Psalm 19:14, “May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.”

When You Are Worried

When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.—Isaiah 43:2 (NLT)

Imagine your life free of worry. The Bible is filled with verses like today’s to help reassure you that with faith there is no need to be afraid. His Word can empower you to live each moment joyfully because you know deep in your heart that God has your back.

Dear Lord, in times of worry may I feel Your presence and remember that Your strong desire to protect and guide me is more powerful than anything on Earth.

Develop a Thankful Heart

Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.—1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NLT)

Gratitude is the key to change. Dr. Norman Vincent Peale said, “A basic law: the more you practice the art of thankfulness, the more you have to be thankful for.” Make it a point every day to pack more gratitude into your life.

Heavenly Father, I praise You because there is always something better ahead. Thank You for this beautiful and amazing life.

God’s Goals for You

I keep working toward that day when I will finally be all that Christ saved me for and wants me to be.—Philippians 3:12 (TLB)

Have you made any New Year’s resolutions? Even if you’re someone who shies away from setting goals, it’s not too late to take a moment and ask God what special things He would like you to do in the coming year.

Dear God, I know that a resolution is a commitment. Help me rise to a new life. Guide me to set and keep goals that will make me be my best.

Choose Better!

Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.—Psalm 51:10 (NIV)

There are many sayings about how we handle loss and difficult situations. That our reaction to devastating experiences can either make one bitter or better; our personal tragedies can either define or refine. Reflect on your life and your way of handling adversity. Ask God to help you release the pain and hard feelings that linger after loss and turn those feelings into something positive.

Dear Lord, when I feel broken hold me close and comfort me with Your perfect peace.

Embrace Uncertainty

Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.—Habakkuk 3:17-18, (NIV)

Author Bob Goff said, “Embrace uncertainty. Some of the most beautiful chapters in our lives won’t have a title until much later.” Very few people have mastered the art of embracing change. If you struggle with new situations ask God for help in feeling more secure. Know that He is always the same and He is always there.

Heavenly Father, help me release my fear of change and recognize that the only way I can grow is by living life fully and completely.

The Key to More Energy

He must become greater; I must become less.—John 3:30 (NIV)

Dr. Norman Vincent Peale said, “the more you lose yourself in something bigger than yourself, the more energy you will have.” If your life is lacking enthusiasm look for ways to expand your thinking beyond yourself and your needs. Repeat “More God, less me.”

Heavenly Father, when my thoughts and deeds are set on serving myself, right my thinking. Guide me to serve You.
