The Exhausted Prophet

Then he lay down under the bush and fell asleep. All at once an angel touched him and said, “Get up and eat.”—1 Kings 19:5 (NIV)
Elijah had dedicated His life to serving God, and yet he became so exhausted he was ready to give up. In the above verse, the Lord let Elijah sleep peacefully and sent an angel to feed him. After rest and food, Elijah felt prepared to face his future and hear God’s still, small voice. If you are feeling like Elijah, burned out from your life’s work, take a moment and ask God to minister to you.
Lord, when I am struggling, guide me to find peace and rest in Your presence.

In Your Prayers

Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.—Galatians 6:2 (NIV)
God wants us to help one another, to carry each other’s burdens. Do you keep a prayer list of other people’s needs? If not, now is the perfect time to begin this practice. Prayer is one of God’s greatest gifts; use it to help ease one another’s troubles.
God of comfort, thank You for being our stronghold, our anchor and Savior! Thank You for the amazing power of prayer.

What If?

What if there are fifty righteous people in the city? Will you really sweep it away and not spare the place for the sake of the fifty righteous people in it?—Genesis 18:24 (NIV)
When God revealed His plans to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah, Abraham asked “what if” questions until God answered. When you aren’t sure of your path, pray in the form of questions. Ask God: “What next?”
Lord of answers, direct me in Your ways. I trust You.

Fellow Workers in God’s Service

For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building.—1 Corinthians 3:9 (NIV)
You are a worker with God, and as a Christian you have a part to play in His plan to help others. Do you accept His invitation to be part of His great purpose? Will you commit to helping Him by serving others?

Safe in His Care

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”—Psalm 46:10 (NIV)
This famous verse holds an obvious truth. Yet many of us forget to find a quiet place—to be still and center our thoughts and focus on Him, the God of Miracles, the God who loves and cares for you!
Lord, Your peace is always there waiting for me. You are a Great God, and my life is safe in Your hands.

His Joy, Your Heart

Nehemiah said, “Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”—Nehemiah 8:10 (NIV)
The joy of the Lord is your strength. When you delight in Him, you witness the power of prayer. Your faith develops and your hope grows bright! Come and sit in the power of His light. When you are at home with Him, you are blessed with His joy.
Dear Lord, may the Light of heaven shine in my heart.

No Doubt

But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”—Matthew 14:30 (NIV)
When Peter cried out to Jesus in the above verse, the Lord pulled him up. “Why did you doubt?” He asked him. When the storms of life crash down on you, how do you react? And when God lifts you up with an opportunity, do you recognize His great power? Why do you doubt?
Lord, You’ve rescued me countless times when I cried out for You to save me. Help me to feel secure the next time a storm is approaching.

Dare to Depend on Him

On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.—John 14:20 (NIV)
When you depend on God, you open your heart to miracles. You let go of needing to control everything and recognize that your weakness draws in His strength. Decide to willingly take His hand as He leads you on a magnificent adventure.
Heavenly Father, I receive Your grace and abundance with a thankful heart.

Happy Mother’s Day

When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to her, “Woman, here is your son,” and to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” From that time on, this disciple took her into his home.—John 19:26–27 (NIV)
It is impossible to imagine the excruciating sorrow Jesus’ mother felt watching her son perish on the cross. Among His final words, He instructed John to, “Take care of her.” Today, on Mother’s Day, may God bless and take care of mothers everywhere.
Dear Lord, today I pray for all the mothers in the world. May they feel Your comfort and peace.

Share His Gifts

Mother Teresa is quoted as saying, “God gives us things to share; God doesn’t give us things to hold.” Giving is an expression of our love, humanity and purpose. The best gift we can give ourselves is the joy we receive when helping and giving to others.
Dear God, guide me to give my time, energy and love generously.

Are you strong in your faith? Does the light of Christ shine through you? Do you faithfully serve God with a generous heart and a gentle smile? Every day you have the opportunity to be the light that outshines the darkness in someone’s life.
Lord, I want to shine for You! May my good works bring You glory.
