Let Your Leaves Fall

Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice.—Ephesians 4:31 (ESV)
Look to nature and the falling leaves, and be inspired to let go of the emotional weight you are carrying. Release feelings of jealousy or worry, bitterness or guilt, or any feelings that are getting in the way of you living fully and joyfully. Ask Him to fill your mind and spirit with encouragement, hope and love.
Heavenly Father, I don’t know why I insist on holding onto things that block me from fully experiencing Your love. Today I vow to let go of fear and embrace Your grace.

Your Refuge & Shield

You are my refuge and my shield; I have put my hope in your word.—Psalm 119:114 (NIV)
Do you run to God when you feel alone or overwhelmed? You have a safe place always available to you. God is both your hiding place and your shield. He will protect you. He will shelter you from harm.
Lord, Your Word is my hope. Only You are my true shelter, refuge and God. Your everlasting love comforts me and brings me peace.

Extend His Mercy

Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son.—Colossians 1:13 (KJV)
God in His grace has raised you above the darkness to the heavenly places with Christ. Because He has shown you great mercy, He invites you to extend this mercy to others. Today, make an effort to offer kindness and compassion to those battling darkness in their own lives. Reach out to someone in need.
Dear Lord, thank You for Your mercy; guide me to extend it to others who need Your love and light.

New Adventures Ahead

And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side.—Mark 4:35 (KJV)
In the above verse, Jesus knew He needed a change and moved to the other side. Perhaps God is nudging you to make a change in your life—to leave behind the familiar and trust Him with the unknowns of the future. Know that He will be with you as you forge ahead.
Lord, even good change can be scary, walking away from something I know to something I don’t. But I can be courageous because You are my strength, my unchanging Savior.

Invite Him In

Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.—Prov erbs 16:3 (NIV)
Do you invite Jesus into your life every day? Share your work with Him. Commit each part of your day with Him and you will find meaning in even the most mundane tasks as you build a solid foundation of faith.
Heavenly Father, You are the key to a good day, my very best friend, guiding me, enlightening me, and helping me grow to be my best.

Patient, Wise and Forgiving

A person’s wisdom yields patience; it is to one’s glory to overlook an offense.—Proverbs 19:11 (NIV)
How do you react when someone hurts your feelings? Rather than responding in the heat of the moment, be patient. Consider the intention of the offender—and the best course of action. Approach the situation with wisdom and compassion.
Lord, help me to be a wise person in my relationships, forgiving others as You have forgiven me.

Uniquely Made

Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”—Genesis 1:26 (NIV)
You are created in God’s image, and He has entrusted you to act on His behalf and to reflect His likeness here on earth. He has given you the strength to fight against the bad forces in the world with righteousness, compassion and love.
Heavenly Father, sometimes I need reminding that I am uniquely made in Your image!

Be True to Yourself

He also told them this parable: “Can the blind lead the blind? Will they not both fall into a pit? The student is not above the teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like their teacher.”—Luke 6:39–40 (NIV)
Jesus reminds you to examine and reexamine what is truly important in your life and to see if your answer aligns with His teachings. Is your heart right with God? By His grace you will live your life so that it truly pleases Him.
Heavenly Father, help me to grow and know You more each day. Help me to recognize my own “blind spots” so that I can clearly follow Your guidance.

A Grateful Heart

In those days Hezekiah became ill and was at the point of death. He prayed to the Lord, who answered him and gave him a miraculous sign.—2 Chronicles 32:24 (NIV)
King Hezekiah forgot to acknowledge God and suffered the consequences. Pride can blind you from acknowledging His hand in your blessings. Everything you have is a gift from God. Take a moment and thank Him for your many successes. God wants you to practice gratitude and humility.
Lord, I need You! I appreciate all You have done for me. Help me to have a humble and grateful heart.

His Love Is at Work

Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.—Philippians 1:6 (NIV)
Sometimes it’s hard to see God’s work in your life—especially during spiritual dry times. When you feel as if God has forgotten you, turn to this verse. Paul assures us that God began a good work in you and will bring it to completion. Have faith and be patient. He will make all things beautiful.
Lord, I need You! I appreciate all You have done for me. Help me to have a humble and grateful heart.

Seeds for Your Soul

Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.—James 1:22 (NIV)
Let God’s Word take root and bear fruit in your life. When you listen to His Word, respond by turning His lessons into action. As this passage instructs, “Do what it says,” and you will be blessed in all that you do.
Almighty God, Your Word is seed for my soul. Help me to apply Your lessons so that I grow a beautiful life with You.

Walk in the Way of Love

Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.—Ephesians 5:1–2 (NIV)
Paul reminds us that we are faced with the great challenge of following God’s example and walking in the way of love. All of us are asked to come together and serve one another through God’s power, to live our lives filled with God by supporting others in need.
Lord, help me to be an ambassador of reconciliation and forgiveness—to extend Your love here on earth.
