Love Yourself as Your Neighbor

“Love your neighbor as yourself.” There is no commandment greater than these.—Mark 12:31 (NIV)
Your other relationships will flourish when you start by loving yourself. Reflect on this verse, and change how you treat yourself. Do you speak to yourself with kind and loving thoughts? Do you encourage and nurture yourself as you would a neighbor?
God, I love You with all my heart, soul and mind. I vow to treat my neighbor, and myself, with that same great love.

Content in Him

Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”—Luke 12:15 (NIV)
God wants you to be content in Him, not in possessions. When you feel envious of what others have—a bigger house or a better job—instead of focusing on what you lack, reflect on His blessings. Ask for His help to have a heart of gratitude. He is enough. He is all that you will ever need.
Lord, thank You for blessing me beyond measure.

Put On Your New Self

Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him.—Colossians 3:10 (NLT)
Take in the beauty of this verse. God makes your life new from the moment you believe you are transforming into His likeness. Allow His Spirit to clothe you—to change your old ways into His new ones.
Lord, because of You, I can live a glorious new life!

The Still, Small Voice

“After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.”—1 Kings 19:12 (NIV)
Scripture speaks of the value of being still. When you are busy and overwhelmed with the world’s chatter, it can be tough to hear Him. Taking the time to sit quietly and be still creates the space around you and inside your heart to listen to Him.
Dear Lord, help me be still so that I may hear Your gentle whisper in my life.

Wait for It

For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come.—Habakkuk 2:3 (NIV)
Some of God’s greatest blessings may feel like an impossibly long time in coming. Though they linger, be patient. Keep faithful and keep looking to Him! He prepares every gift with perfect wisdom in His perfect timing.
Lord, I surrender my desires to Your will and Your ways.

The Beauty of His Ways

Can you discover the depths of God? Can you discover the limits of the Almighty?—Job 11:7 (NASB)
Although you can genuinely and personally know God, fully understanding Him is impossible. No matter how hard you try, you cannot fully comprehend His ways. Rather than exhaustively trying to solve life’s mysteries—trust Him! Trust that He knows the beginning and the end. He is leading you to a better life. Rejoice.
Omnipotent God, You are the Alpha and the Omega. I trust You know what is best for me.

Build Up One Another

A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity.—Proverbs 17:17 (NIV)
Norman Vincent Peale said, “Give everyone a smile. Spend so much time improving yourself that you have no time left to criticize others. Be too big for worry and too noble for anger.” When you encounter a person who gets on your nerves, instead of focusing on the negative, look for the good in them. Give them a smile. Be patient and understanding. Extend God’s love.
Heavenly Father, help me build up another with friendship.
