Our Anchor

Jesus wants to be our anchorsomeone we turn to and depend on especially when the seas are tossing us around. He can keep us anchored!

Last fall, while at the State Botanical Garden of Georgia, I walked up to a section of Pink Muhly grass. The grass was covered in dew, and my eye was drawn to it. Gorgeous!

Our eye is first drawn to what is brightest in an image then to what is most in focus. I decided to focus on the large dewdrop near the middle of the photograph. I increased the exposure on the large dewdrop to make it brighter.

This dewdrop is the anchor point where I want your eye to focus. Then I hope your eye will dance all around the photograph as you look at all the amazing little dewdrops!

Jesus wants to be our anchorsomeone we turn to and depend on especially when the seas are tossing us around. He can keep us anchored!

He wants us to keep our eyes on Him. Focusing on Him will make it easier to stay anchored.

Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it. (Matthew 7:24-27, ESV)

Focus on the One who helps us build a sturdy foundation so that when the storms come we will be ready. He will be our anchor!
