Hi. I’m Colleen Hughes, editor in chief of Angels on Earth with a true story of an everyday angel from Colleen Mussina of Bozeman, Montana. Angels come to us every day, as a neighbor, an unexpected rescuer, a kind stranger, or a loyal pet. Listen now to a story of just such an everyday angel.
Colleen’s daughter Tiffany was always very sensitive. So Colleen worried when Tiffany’s best friend Jessica moved away. Then, she had an idea, a pet. Tiffany named her new little black hamster Charcoal. Charcoal is my best friend, Tiffany informed her mom.
Then, one winter morning, she ran into the kitchen. Charcoal’s gone. Although they looked everywhere, they couldn’t find the hamster. Pray the angels protect him. And if it’s God’s will, bring him home, Colleen told her. But it seemed as if her daughter had lost two best friends.
The very next day, the temperature dropped below freezing. Don’t worry, Mommy, Tiffany said. The angels will bring Charcoal back. Had I made too much of angels? Colleen wondered. The phone rang that night. Our next door neighbor had spotted something fuzzy and black outside his house. As hard as it was to believe, he saw little Charcoal, at night no less. But angels always look out for the smallest and most vulnerable, like Charcoal and Tiffany.
