Someone once said, “When it snows, you have two choices: shovel or make snow angels.”
I’m too much of a shoveler.
All I’ve been doing since the Friday after Thanksgiving is counting down the days till Christmas. And not in a good way! I’ve gotten lost in my to-do lists and timelines: Put up the tree by such and such a date, bring down the Christmas angels the day after, find the brand-new box of Christmas ornament hooks I bought last year and the year before and the year before and always misplaced, order presents online now to avoid late shipping charges, and on and on. I find myself living in a state of dread. I want to either stop time or speed it up so the mad rush is over! Now what kind of attitude is that?
Today I’ll ask my guardian angel to help me take a deep breath and lift my head from all the shoveling. It’s not like I have to do all of it on my own. There are everyday angels everywhere I look, all of us together preparing for the wonder and miracle of Christmas morning. Just for today I’m going to make snow angels and listen to the choir of heavenly angels sing. After all, we still have 18 days till Christmas!
