Guideposts Video: Inspiring True Stories
Hi. I’m Colleen Hughes, editor in chief of Angels on Earth. Here’s a true story about an everyday angel from Bonnie Weed of New Milford, Connecticut. Angels come to us every day, as a neighbor, an unexpected rescuer, a kind stranger, or a loyal pet. Listen now to a story of just such an everyday angel.
It was a rainy day. Bonnie’s 2-year-old Daniel had nonstop energy. It was giving her a headache. She decided they needed to get out of the house. They went to the grocery store. Bonnie wanted to get the ingredients to make cookies. When she was ready to check out, she found a register with no line, register 12. The cashier smiled at Daniel. Somebody is making cookies today, I see, she said. Daniel giggled.
She handed Bonnie her change. You have a beautiful child. Enjoy his spirit. Bonnie was a little startled, but she mumbled thanks and left. Daniel and Bonnie had fun making their cookies. She forgot all about her headache. They went to the grocery store again a few days later.
Bonnie told the manager about the kind cashier at register 12. The manager was confused. He asked Bonnie to point out the cashier, but she wasn’t anywhere to be found. The manager checked the schedule for the day Bonnie was last there. It showed that register 12 hadn’t been opened that day or any day that week.
