Yesterday was an anniversary of sorts. It was on October 8 that I started living with Sunflower.
She came through the Pomeranian rescue society in Connecticut but quickly got used to being a New Yorker. One thing she doesn’t always like about her new neighbors is that sometimes they’re walking so quickly they don’t notice the tiny dog at their feet who wants to say hello. And Sunflower wants to say hello to everyone.

The funny thing is, once the person notices her, they have all the time in the world for petting. They drop down to their knees and even welcome a few doggie kisses. I can’t help but feel sad for the people who never looked down. It makes me wonder: How many angels—even fluffy orange ones—do I miss every day? I have to start paying attention!
