A Little Sign in the Waiting Room

A surprising but familiar sight comforts an anxious Guideposts editor at the doctor’s office.

The other week I had an MRI. I usually get one every year, so it’s not too big a deal. Still I couldn’t help but feel a little nervous beforehand, especially when I entered the waiting room. That’s the thing about waiting rooms–there’s just so much waiting involved! And this MRI place was different from the usual place I go to. It felt very unfamiliar.

I sat down at the back of the room, filled out some patient forms and turned them in at the front desk. When I returned to my seat, I noticed a familiar sight next to my chair. Two well-worn, dog-eared copies of Guideposts magazine!

The sight of those issues made me smile. It was like instant comfort. I’d never seen Guideposts in a waiting room before. Maybe the new waiting room wasn’t so bad…
