Sometimes you stumble upon wonder when you least expect it.
Mike Karas, a photographer from Honolulu, Hawaii, was on vacation at Yosemite National Park in California last week when he saw something pretty incredible. A bride and groom on a cliff in the distance, the sun setting behind them. Mike snapped several shots of the dreamy scene and posted one of the photos on Instagram. People all over the country were smitten by the photo. And for good reason. It just may be one of the most romantic photos of all time.
“A friend and I hiked up there to get a nice shot of the sunset and, coincidentally, right in the direction we were going to shoot, was a couple in a tuxedo and wedding dress on the ledge,” Mike told Good Morning America. “I just started snapping like crazy. The colors were phenomenal that night.”
Mike wanted to share his snapshots with the couple, but they were gone before he got the chance. Through the power of social media, though, he was eventually able to connect with them. The bride and groom turned out to be Australian TV stars Catherine Mack and Rick Donald. They had no idea they were the subject of a viral photo. Catherine reposted the photo, thanking Mike.
“This special moment was caught by Mike Karas who we don’t know (at all),” she wrote, “he was just taking a sunset shot and we happened to wander into it.”
