The Oscars are coming up this Sunday. To get ready for the big day, I went around the office and asked our editorial team a very important question: What’s your favorite movie with elements of the mysterious, wondrous and miraculous?

Check out what the Mysterious Ways staff had to say below. Then share your own movie picks with us on Facebook!

It’s a Wonderful Life: “This movie always makes me cry even though I’ve seen it at least 20 times. A great reminder of how rich every life is. And how every encounter–no matter how small or seemingly insignificant–can be completely life-changing.” –Evan Miller, Contributing Editor

The Sixth Sense: “Spoiler Alert! Bruce Willis plays a psychiatrist who believes he’s been hired to help a young boy (Haley Joel Osment) haunted by ghosts. In reality, it turns out the psychiatrist himself is dead–and thanks to the young boy, he’s able to come to terms with his death and send his grieving wife a message of comfort. One reason the movie is so powerful is that many of us have felt the presence of or received a sign from a departed loved one–this isn’t just a ‘ghost story,’ it’s a story about how the ‘unseen’ has the ability to affect our lives.” –Adam Hunter, Managing Editor

Gravity: “Who doesn’t love Sandra Bullock? Her character has given up all hope. But then she has a vision that completely changes everything. She wakes up with a renewed sense of purpose. It just shows you that sometimes a turning point comes right after a breaking point.” –Jessica Toomer, Editorial Intern

2001: A Space Odyssey: “One of the greatest motion pictures of all time. It’s a movie all about the mystery of life in the universe and it’s filled with the weird and cosmic. Music plays a huge role in all of Stanley Kubrick’s films, and the choral music of contemporary composer György Ligeti is used at crucial times in 2001. It is very intense, mysterious and spooky. To me, the music of Ligeti that Kubrick adapted is the perfect soundtrack for Mysterious Ways. Well, a little scary maybe, but definitely mysterious.” –Edward Grinnan, Editor-in-Chief

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind: “Would you erase your bad memories in order to keep the best ones? The characters in this movie have that choice. There’s something deeply spiritual about it–learning to live life in the moment, trusting that things will unfold as they’re meant to.” –Dan Kessel, Assistant Editor

Field of Dreams: “I love films about faith in the impossible, like Life of Pi and Salmon Fishing in the Yemen. But Field of Dreams is the ultimate movie in my book. It really has it all: strange dreams, secret messages, leaps of faith and, of course, Kevin Costner. More than that, though, it’s about listening to that inner voice even when the entire world is telling you not to.” –Diana Aydin, Associate Editor
