I blogged in November about one of my favorite places to photograph–Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, GA. Wildlife is abundant there, so I feel right at home.
A special place I enjoy visiting is called Mr. Cason’s Vegetable Garden. The 7 1/2-acre garden was used for the original, popular television show called The Victory Garden–a program about growing vegetables.
The vegetables in the garden are even used in Callaway’s restaurants! I don’t go there for the fresh vegetables and fruits, but I do enjoy photographing the flowers.
There are also many critters there to photograph. I have found rabbits, birds, frogs and my favorite subject–hummingbirds.
I found this frog sitting on the side of a pond in the garden. Eventually he jumped into the pond and became covered with tiny aquatic flowering plants called duckweed. His body was submerged, but his eyes and head peered through the green surface.
I’m sure the reason he stayed mostly submerged is because he felt hidden and protected by the duckweed as I photographed him. The duckweed appeared to be a refuge for the frog.
Hopefully, we are depending on the Lord and taking refuge in Him. He will be there to shelter and protect us from danger and distress.
“As for God, his way is perfect: The LORD’s word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him.” (2 Samuel 22:31, NIV)
