The North has experienced a brutal winter and Boston even set a new snowfall record–108.6 inches for the 2014-15 season.
But winter is officially over, and “The Big Thaw” has started. I am sure the North is greatly looking forward to warmer weather!
We did not have much snow or ice this year in Georgia. Last winter, I photographed this black-capped chickadee as the ice started to thaw at my house. The branch under his claws has a layer of ice on it, but you can see drops of water forming.
A thought comes to mind, as I think about the end of winter and the start of spring–our old cold nature before we accept Christ, then the warmth of our new nature once we are saved.
Since you have heard about Jesus and have learned the truth that comes from him, throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. (Ephesians 4:21-23, NLT)
Our old nature can be very cold without Jesus. He brings a warmth to our hearts and helps us shine forth in His goodness. We have to stay in check with the Holy Spirit, though, to keep our motives and lives pure.
Are we letting the Holy Spirit renew our thoughts and attitudes?
