God Waits for Us

Are we willing to move closer to Himnot further away?

I checked the weather map one morning this week and noticed a snowflake symbol for the afternoon here in Athens, GA. I was surprised, because there wasn’t any snow in the forecast earlier.

I looked on the map and noticed the snow was already near Atlanta and heading my way. Since it doesn’t snow often in Athens, I was excited! I even got out my Christmas CDs and played “Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow” and “Winter Wonderland.”

Photographing birds in the snow is not something I get to do very often either, so I had to think about where I wanted to shoot. I set my sights on Memorial Park.

The reason I love it–the birds at the lake! I am seldom disappointed when I go there to photograph them. I have found a green heron, great blue heron, kingfisher, ducks and lots of Canadian geese.

The temperature was in the 30s, so I dressed warmly–long johns and alland basically sat on the bank of the lake for three-and-a-half hours. The geese were not cooperating, but it was okay because it was not snowing yet. Wherever they went, I went, and typically, they swam in the other direction once I got there.

As I was waiting, this time they started swimming toward me. I was excited because it started to snow! The goose in this photograph got out of the water, climbed on a rock and posed for me. It did not snow very much, but it was worth the wait!

The Lord also waits and longs for us. He adores us and wants to spend time with us. Are we willing to move closer to Him and not swim in the other direction?
