“Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.” John 14:1

When it comes to our day, most people think there isn’t enough time to do everything we need to do. How many of us lament that we need more help? More wisdom? More money? More hours in the day…the list goes on and on.

I have a forty-five-minute commute to and from home from work. On the way home, I’m usually talking to someone on my cell phone, listening to the news to catch up on the day’s events or singing my stress away to my favorite songs. Other times I’m doing none of those. Instead, I’m worrying about all that still needs to be done before my head hits the pillow that night. I feel troubled, but instead of wishing for more time to tackle more things, I should be listening to what Jesus said; “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.”

It’s now that I realize that the Lord will give me the strength I need to get things done—I only have to ask. There’s no need for me to be troubled at all. It’s not more material things that I need, it’s more one-on-one time with Jesus: to listen to His words and teachings, and incorporate them into my daily life. Only then will I be able to benefit from my spiritual strength. It’s there. We all have it. We just need to tap into it—and believe.

Faith step: Spend time with Jesus. Don’t despair when you feel overwhelmed. Know that the Lord will provide you with the inner strength that you need and He will guide you down the right path to accomplish your task.
