The instruction of the Lord is perfect, renewing one’s life; the testimony of the Lord is trustworthy, making the inexperienced wise. —Psalm 19:7
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve pondered the same question over and over again: What should I be doing with my life? It never fails; I’m going along dealing with work, with my family, with friends, with projects and tasks, and somewhere in the midst of everything I can’t help this feeling of uneasiness that comes over me. Am I doing what I’m supposed to be doing? Is the path I’m on the one I’m supposed to take?
I find that when I worry it’s because I’m not going down the path that the Lord has intended for me. I make things more complicated when they don’t need to be—than Jesus intended for them to be.
As is human nature, we tend to think that when something is too easy it’s the wrong choice. We want to struggle, we want to overanalyze, and we want to beat ourselves up at every turn. We want to lead and have others follow, but the Lord says, “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go.” He is there to guide us to ensure that we follow the path that He has chosen for us. Jesus watches over us with a keen eye. He wants us to feel loved, protected, and eternally blessed by a relationship with our Creator.
The Lord is the supreme instructor, and He is always watching my back. Why worry about what I’m supposed to be doing when His eyes are upon me? By taking the road that He has chosen, I will surely be on the right path.
Prayer
Lord, help me to stay on Your path and continue to guide my footsteps today. Amen.
