An earth angel named Rob is a heavenly example that each of us has a gift only we can give.

Neglect not the gift that is in thee.  I Timothy 4:14

It was the worst snowstorm of the winter. All day long while I was at work, the white stuff poured from the sky. When it was time to head home, my car wouldn’t budge from its parking spot. A team of strong men gave my vehicle a victorious push, but then my windshield wipers failed. Icy rain pelted the glass, obstructing my vision. I pulled into a little grocery store, hoping to purchase some paper towels or a washcloth to wipe my windshield. Then, as if I needed anything else to go wrong, my direction light refused to work.

Inside the store I heard myself wail, “Is anyone here good with windshield wipers? Make that direction lights too.”

Enter an angel I later learned was named Rob. “That sounds like a bad fuse, ma’am,” he said. “Let me check it out. I might have just the one you need in my minivan. I carry a little of everything around with me.” Rob insisted I stay safe and warm inside my car while he investigated.

As it turned out, a little green fuse was indeed the culprit. Rob not only replaced the faulty one, he also gave me a spare that fit inside the cutest clear plastic holder. I tried to pay Rob, but he would have none of it.

“I’ve worked on cars my whole life,” he explained. “And I’m a truck driver. This is just what I do.” This is just what I do.

The Bible says much the same thing about giving. “Neglect not the gift that is in thee,” we read in I Timothy 4:14. Fixing a car doesn’t come naturally to me. But Rob? It’s his gift.

What is God asking you to give today? It may be large or small, but one thing is certain: It’s something only you can give.

Show me, Lord Jesus, what You have created me alone to give.
