The heavens are telling the glory of God; they are a marvelous display of his craftsmanship. Psalm 19:1

I love colors: wild, vibrant colors; bold colors. Like the Florida sunsets that are so alive with reds, oranges, pinks, and shades of blue and violet that you can hardly believe the magnificence. My favorite colors are lime green and royal blue.

I was once at a retreat center where the entire front of the chapel was ceiling-to-floor windows, and the lime green trees and bushes in the foreground of a dynamite blue sky and a blue lake a shade lighter nearly gave me goose bumps. When I’m doing water aerobics every morning, the robin’s-egg-blue sky dotted with giant whiter-than-white clouds amazes me with its beauty.

Over the years I’ve learned that whenever I’m feeling tired, depressed, overworked, lonely or sad, all I have to do is go outside and find some color.

Where will I go? To the Gulf of Mexico, with gorgeous, soft tan sand, dark blue waves dotted with stunning whitecaps. To the botanical garden, where the flowers compete with the colors of the umbrella tables and mosaic lounge chairs. Perhaps I’ll jump in my little fire-engine-red car and drive to Turtle Park, where so many shades of green defy the imagination.

Spirits lifted, colors sorted, smiles returned, I head home, thankful for the colors of my life.

Heavenly Father, keep me mindful that all color comes from You. Thank You for the gifts of color and sight.
