I’ve been writing professionally now for about a decade. Before that, I worked for several years as an editor at Tyndale House Publishers, where I often worked on devotional material. I’ve written a lot of devotions in my own books, as a contributor to other books, and for my church website. Also, as you might know, I’m one of the writers involved with Mornings with Jesus.
When I began writing this note today, staring out the window and watching spring slowly creep in, I found myself thinking about His gifts. Focusing on Jesus during the writing of my devotions for Mornings with Jesus brought home to me how closely He wants to be tied into our moments each day. When we begin to look for Him in every situation, He is ready to show us more about Himself. There’s always more of Him to discover, and it’s mind-blowing to see Him respond to our desire to know Him.
He is there in the burgeoning spring and in the dead of winter. He wants to be close to us, wants us to let Him into our lives. It never ceases to amaze me, no matter how many devotions I write, how much this one simple fact remains true.
